Professionally
I have been helping fertility patients for over 20 years. In my early career, I was a lawyer with a special interest in medical law. I quickly realized that I had a stronger impact on the lives of my clients in the field of counselling and therapy. After my own fertility struggle, I decided to make infertility counselling my full time career. I obtained both my Honors Bachelor’s and Master’s of Social Work from King’s University College at the University of Western Ontario. I was the Gold Medallist in my BSW year and the recipient of the award in Ethics and the Law in Social Work. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (RSW) and member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), as well as a member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and Infertility Network. I am one of CFAS' approved Infertility Counsellors. I am well-versed in the latest infertility research and have been part of publications in the field of infertility.
I have experience in both individual and couple therapy. I have previously facilitated numerous groups related to fertility issues including primary infertility, IVF treatment, general infertility, repeat loss, early pregnancy and secondary infertility. I work from various modalities including crisis intervention, feminist therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, trauma focused , CBT and psychoeducation.
I believe that there is a valuable journey before, during and after the experience of infertility. I believe in a holistic approach, obtaining optimal wellness physically, mentally and spiritually on the path to parenthood.
Personally
I was a fertility patient for almost 6 years. I keenly understand the challenges and heartbreak of fertility diagnoses, testing, medications, treatments and treatment failure. I also recognize how disruptive a fertility diagnosis can be in all aspects of a couple’s life. I am the proud and blessed parent of two lively daughters and one miracle son. Each of my children has a unique assisted conception story. I experienced an obstetrical trauma with my second daughter’s delivery, and it has given me a particular passion for working with women whose birth stories were difficult and/or traumatic. I empathize with all women and couples who have struggled both before and during their journeys to find their families.

Personal Message from Lois
I haven’t met you, but I feel like I have a really good sense of the very tough road you are walking down. If I were to meet you, I would likely meet someone who is exhausted, hopeless, desperate and bereft. You would ask me when you will become a parent, when you can live a normal life and when you can stop thinking, living and breathing infertility and gain back some control over your life. I would tell you that today is that day.
I truly understand how you feel, because I have walked down that path myself. It is my goal for you that today your life changes to live joy and not fear, hope and not despair, balance and not single-mindedness and wellness and vitality not self-destruction. My hope for you is that you are strong, healthy and empowered when you become a parent. You can live a life of passion, joy, strength and hope for the future, right here today.
You have a valuable life, you are worthy of more than your infertility. Let the light back in.
I would be privileged to help, support and encourage you on your journey!
